In May 2016, I took part in George Eastman Museum's first 35mm film making workshop in Rochester, upstate New York.
This was a film making workshop not a filmmaking workshop.
The six of us learnt how to make a gelatin emulsion, coat the film base then strip and perforate our film. We then shot and developed three short test strips each.
On the final day of the workshop we took a trip to Kodak where we had our tests scanned and levels and contrast digitally tweaked. Unfortunately we ran out of time to get an untreated, truthful representation of what we had created but the results where very satisfying nonetheless.
